Tip 1: turn off the screen

You know one of the most effective ways to conserve battery life is to reduce the display brightness of the screen? Its been known that reducing the level of screen brightness to produce more than 10 minutes battery life. You can do this by going to Start> Settings> Control Panel> Display and clicking the Settings tab. You can also disable the cool effects like ClearType fonts and fade effects to reduce consumption CPU power.

Tip 2: Decrease disk activity

You can also optimize the Windows paging file "– the area of portable hard drive that serves as virtual memory when RAM is full. Optimizing the paging file size of your hard drive ensures accessed less frequently when memory is exhausted the system. To change this, go to Control Panel> System> Advanced> Performance Settings> Advanced> Virtual memory change. Set both the initial and maximum size of the paging file to 1.5 times the capacity of installed RAM size.

Its portable hard drive to eat is another culprit. To save energy, reduce the frequency with which the hard disk has to spin. This can be try defragmenting your hard drive regularly. This can be done using the disk Degfragmenter in the Start> Programs> Accessories> System Tools menu.

If your laptop does not provide that change, you should go to Control Panel> System> Hardware> Device Manager and disable the transmitter-receiver infrared, Ethernet adapter and the Bluetooth radio.
